Art workshop organized by the “Insight”: September, 21

The workshop is an opportunity to meet new people, a chance to communicate in the positive and friendly atmosphere, to relax and charge yourself with good mood.

The mail goal of every workshop is to unite different people and help them to express themselves in a creative adventure, and make a nice keepsake.

This is a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the Ukranian organizations without leaving Saint-Petersburg. The Ukrain is coming to us represented by the “Insight” social organization.

Seminar «Rainbow Cultural Collaboration between Northern and Eastern European Countries»

Art, music and cinema, poetry and dancing, theatre and journalism as powerful international tools in the fight with homophobia and intolerance in society.

Organizers: International Lesbian and Gay Cultural Network (ILGCN, Sweden), Tribade Day & Night Festival (Finland).

 

Saint-Petersburg social organization “Petersburg AEGIS”: September, 22. 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

"The Weaker Sex or Discrimination?"

The “Petersburg AEGIS” organization  was founded in 2002. Our mission is to promote civil rights protection in the field of employment, protection the rights of trade unions’ and other non-commercial non-governmental organizations, raising of legal thinking of our citizens and teaching them basic skills of self-protection concerning social and labour issues. 

The topic of discussion: " The Weaker Sex or Discrimination?"

Questions to be discussed: Saint-Petersburg as a city of gender contrasts? Why employers prefer to hire men? Why women agree to be poor? How to recognize sex discrimination at work? What to be done if you are suffering from discrimination? International experience.

The seminar will be held at Sablinskaya str., 13\15. Community Liaison Office o employment rights.

 

Seminar organized by “Gender L”: September, 23

Interactive psychological seminar “The Truth about Men and Women”.

"No one is born a woman, you should become one" said one of the famous French female writers and feminists Simone de Beauvoir. The same can be applied to men. How do we become women and men? What do the society and culture do to us? What happens with those who do not fit the regulations? And finally what does it all have to do with LGBT? We’ll try to find answers for these and other questions at the interactive seminar.

The seminar is held by the specialists from the “Gender L” feminist and LGBT organization.

The mission of our organization is:

  • To develop and support the atmosphere of tolerance in the society;
  • To deconstruct the patriarchal society system;
  • To strengthen equal rights of the citizens and counteract  discrimination;
  • To fortify women’s positions in the society and raise their social status;
  • To contribute to the raise of self-respect and development of human dignity among LGBT.

Seminar organized by the “Youth Human Rights Movement” (Xenophobia): September, 23

"Is there a norm?"

The “Youth Human Rights Movement” is included in the “No to Xenophobia” coalition invites to the viewing of a film by Lucas Mudisson “Together” with further discussion. A contest of anecdotes on the topic “Is there a norm?” and other interactive educational games will be held.  

The “Youth Human Rights Movement” organizes educational projects for students and schoolchildren (trainings, camping, educational exchanges, film viewings, collecting of materials and methods etc.) on human rights, children’s rights, tolerance and development of citizenship.

 

Discussion "The Artist Pulls for the Weak" : September, 24

" The Artist Pulls for the Weak "

Is the artist in a special position which allows him or her to stand for weaker or vulnerable groups more effectively?

How can an artist express their social views? Are there any Russian artists who are ready to support the LGBT community? We’ll try to find answers to these questions during the discussion with artists themselves and other interested people.

Poetry workshop by Lia Kirgetova : September, 25. 6 p.m.

An interactive talk with the participants about modern tendencies in poetry, an analysis of young poets’ works. Each of the participants will be able to risk and present their own work for the famous poet’s and public judgment.
