What is Poetic Slam? There are many definitions of this, quite unusual phenomenon in modern literary culture. The following seems to us to be the most descriptive; Poetic Slam is a form of poetic competition in which poets read their poems in the course of three minutes and are being graded based on its content and presentation by people randomly chosen from the audience. Poetic Slam is a competition of skill not just of writing poetry but also reading it on stage, of ability to transfer to the audience one’s emotions and feelings. Hence, dry literary readings are transformed into action which makes the audience feel the life force of the poets’ words. As said the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, “searing the hearts of men with righteous word!” Young and aspiring poets will join veteran poets of St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Minsk in our poetic ring. |
